Volunteer Opportunities for High School Students
High school students looking for community service hours can volunteer with older adults — if the community allows minors, a parent or guardian consents, and staff provide supervision.
Service hours that are actually meaningful
Many students need documented hours for graduation, National Honor Society, clubs, or college applications. Senior living communities often welcome student volunteers for activities, visits, music, and events.
InterGen Volunteer lets you apply to posted roles and track hours so you are not reconstructing a timesheet at the end of the semester.
Age, consent, and supervision
Minors may volunteer only where a community accepts them and parental or guardian consent is in place. InterGen Volunteer does not place students unsupervised with residents. The senior living community decides eligibility and provides on-site supervision.
If a listing is not open to high school students, apply to roles that are, or ask the community what they allow.
